It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Betty Wyatt, surrounded by her family on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 86.
She was a loving wife to Dennis of 53 years. Beloved mother to Brenda (Brad) of Hamilton, and Jim (Katerina) of Toronto. Dear grandmother of Tina (Clay), and great-grandmother of Ashleigh and Taylor. She was the sixth youngest child (of nine) of the late James and Mary Rintoul of Kemptville, ON. She leaves behind siblings Marion (Ralph), Beatrice (late Bill, late Gary), and Marjorie (John). She will be missed by many cherished nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by siblings Ilene (late Mel), Lloyd (Flo), Art (Marian), Verna (late Charles), and John (late Doris).
Betty was a gentle soul who could see the best qualities in people she encountered. Growing up on a farm she loved all animals and always had one or two living their best life with her at home. She was also competitive. She loved playing games with (and beating) her siblings, or anyone else for that matter, whether it be lawn darts, bean bag throw, horseshoes, crokinole, euchre, Yahtzee, golf, bowling, lawn bowling, pickle ball… etc.
She had a strong work ethic stemming from working on a farm doing daily chores before going to school. A lot of people knew her from her many years at Langley Parisian Dry Cleaners at the University Plaza in Dundas. She was a fun-loving mom that enjoyed life and delighted in her children’s achievements.
We are grateful for the exceptional and loving care given to our mother over the past five years at St. Joseph’s Villa, especially on Birch Trail where mom went through the most difficult stage of Alzheimers.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a small ceremony at St. Joseph’s Villa Chapel at 1:00 pm and reception to follow in the Conservatory Lounge until 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5th.
In lieu of flowers those wishing to donate in memory of Betty are asked to please consider an animal shelter of your choice.
