In Loving Memory of Arthur Leigh Darrell Oldham (“Daryl”)
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Arthur Leigh Darrell Oldham, lovingly known as Daryl, on November 2nd 2024, at the age of 87 at home in Stoney Creek, Ontario. His final days were filled with love, surrounded by his devoted family.
Daryl is survived by his beloved wife, Maria, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years. He was a loved father to his daughters Gina Charlene (Fred – predeceased), Teena (Chris), Anita-Marie (Matthew), Elizabeth Anne (Christopher), and Daryl-Lisa (Joey). Predeceased by his infant sons Arthur Leigh, and Darrell Dean.
He was also a proud and loving grandfather to Dean (Sara), Sean (Jessie), Brandon (Madison), Coltin (Carolyn), Hailey, Calder, Kalena, Holden, Ria, Liv, Liana, Emma, as well as to step-grandchildren Chris (Laura) and Marcus, and along with his 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brothers Clifford, and Gordon, and sisters Elizabeth (brother-in-law Arthur), Georgina, Anita, and Jeannie. He leaves behind his brothers Clarence (Laura), Bernard (Kathy), and Victor (Michelle).
Known by many as “Slim,” Daryl served proudly with the 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment, where he developed a deep sense of duty and discipline. He was a hard worker and was deeply involved in volunteer work as a Knight of Columbus to the 4th degree.
He was a passionate lover of music, finding joy in playing guitar and singing, often sharing his talent with family and friends. He kept up with current events, was always dressed in style, with a flair that matched his vibrant personality. A true free spirit, Daryl was an avid world traveler in his early years, embracing the beauty and diversity of cultures across the globe. He also enjoyed relaxing in the warmth of the sun.
A man of deep faith, unwavering strength, and boundless generosity, Daryl’s greatest joy was his family. Especially spending time with his grandchildren, watching them grow and sharing in their lives. His kindness, humor, and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Whether sharing a song, telling a story, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, Daryl made each moment special.
He will be deeply missed by his family in Canada and the Philippines and the many family friends who delighted in his stories.
The family extends a special thank you to BeHome Nursing for their compassionate care during his final days and to the first responders in Hamilton for their kindness and professionalism.
