Peacefully at Sakura House, Woodstock, Sylvia Elsie Dertinger (nee Jackson), beloved wife of the Late Steve Dertinger (2015), passed away in her 93rd year. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Laking, granddaughters Michelle DeBresser (Jim), and Hillary Gallivan (Sean), and great-grandchildren Ben & Luke DeBresser and Leah & Kiera Gallivan. Sylvia was born in Calgary, Alberta, spent her youth in the Lake District in England, and moved to Ontario in 1947. She is predeceased by her parents John and Elsie Jackson, her sister June Boulter (1995), and her son-in-law Bob Laking (2020).Sylvia took great pride in working alongside her husband Steve on their farm in Walsh. She enjoyed knitting items for other people, and she was always up for a game of euchre with family and friends. As per Sylvia’s wishes, there will be a private service in La Salette for the immediate family only. Interment in Our Lady of La Salette R.C. Cemetery. Memorial Donations can be made to VON Sakura House, Woodstock at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) and will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
