It is with heartbreak and sorrow that we share the news that Daniel (Dan, Danny) Joseph Carson passed away peacefully on August the 12th, 2024, with his son Brennan and daughter Alycia by his side.
Danny was born on March 16, 1959 in Hamilton to parents Edith (nee Milanese) and his late father, Floyd Carson. He always had an adventurous outlook on life from a very young age and continued to live the rest of his life like this. His passion for and loyalty to his family never waivered. His 2 kids, Brennan and Alycia were cherished and adored by their father and he always made decisions thinking of them. His brothers Kevin (Mary), children Angela (Randy) and Nonno to Josiah and Aria, Peter (Jane Macpherson), children Alex (Anne) Heather and Andrew and sister Donna (Andrew Irwin), children Mike (Brunna) Matthew and Natalie were there to support Danny until his passing.
Dan was an exceptional and gifted pilot who wore many hats throughout his career including Chief Pilot, Check Pilot, Ground School, Flight and Simulator Instructor with both passenger and cargo airlines. He dedicated over 50 years of his life to aviation, training countless pilots in Dan’s unique but highly effective ways (“What does the book say?”, “If you’re not 10 minutes early, you’re 15 minutes late”, and who can forget “Do one thing, do it well, move on to the next”). He has greatly influenced many career trajectories incorporating these training techniques.
When Dan wasn’t working, which wasn’t very often, you could find him golfing with his brothers and buddies or boating and fishing up north. Not many people know how much of an outdoorsman Danny was and how much knowledge and expertise he possessed with his natural surroundings where he felt most comfortable and at home. He felt at home being there. Pulling his kids, nieces and nephews water skiing, or trolling for pickerel when the sun went down with his famous fish fry over the fire to follow were his favourite northern activities. He enjoyed the Carson Annual Picnics at Bronte park with our extended family and the lobster dinners that were enjoyed around our dining room table. He also enjoyed being on the ice assistant coaching various hockey teams for Brennan and Alycia.
There are no words to describe the grief we are feeling with Danny’s passing but we’ll remember him in the way that we knew him the best, as the amazing person he was.
And to our dearest brother…Danny, you can now soar above the clouds with dad, golf endless amounts of rounds with Mark (“Scotty”), and catch as many fish that will fit into the Fortinos fish counter with Lorne. You will be in our hearts forever.
A memorial service for Dan will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 6-9 p.m.
