Robert William Anderson died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday October 2, 2024 in his 62nd year. Devoted and loving husband of 37 years to his wife Vivian. Cherished father of James and Brayden (Pheonix). Dear brother of Randy, Linda (David) Breuker and Richard (Lori). A special cousin to Travis Hollingshead. Rob will also be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Birdie Anderson of Collingwood.
Rob and Vivian met at Admiral School in Collingwood. Rob had a full beard, very mature and one of the tallest handsome boys in his class. They both worked at Daals Speciality and Harding Carpets. The two were married on September 12, 1987 and proud parents of two boys. Rob worked mainly in the role of Building and Facilities Maintenance at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital and Georgian Downs. An entrepreneur as well, he co-owned and co-managed JR’s Environmentally Friendly Clay Sinkers and owned and managed Georgian Bay Home & Appliances.
Robert was a loving and committed father to his 2 sons. His sons shared the same passion and interest for playing baseball and hockey as him. Coaching his son James in both baseball and hockey and never missing a single one of Brayden’s practices or games. Later they continued pursuing their shared interest Umpiring baseball together with his son James for over 5 years. His son Brayden will always cherish all the special memories they created together while he survived the organ transplant process while in the excellent care of Toronto Sick Kids Hospital. His love and support will always be remembered.
Rob was an avid fisherman and golfer. A past president of the Noisy River Fishing Club. Nine years ago, Rob received devastating news in 2016 that he had Stage 4 Lung cancer, doctors telling him that he had 3 months to live. Rob fought his cancer with grace and determination, bringing his family closer together. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive family and friends at the Chatterson Funeral Home, 404 Hurontario Street, Collingwood on Friday October 11, 2024 from 2p.m. to 4p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday October 11, 2024 at 4p.m.
Internment at Stayner Union Cemetery. If desired, a donation to the “Hospice Georgian Triangle – Campbell House” or “All Saints Anglican Church in Collingwood” would be appreciated by Rob’s family. To leave a message of condolence or to share a memory of Rob,
