Myra Capel Hamilton Titus, (né Judge), born May 21, 1927, passed away peacefully at Campbell House Hospice, on August 4, 2024, in Collingwood.
Myra was predeceased by her mother Alice D. Judge (né Young), father George E. Judge, husband Gregory L. Titus, son-in-law Daniel Reid, granddaughter Shelby Dickey, and brother-in-law Edward Coffey. Myra is survived by her children Kathy Reid, Kevin (Georgina), Cheri, Tanya Green (Bruce), Brett (Lambrina), Kendra Laycock (Bill), and Keri Dickey (Rick); her grandchildren Christopher (Kathryn), Shanda, Morgan, Joren, Kalli (Andy), Kirsten, Emily, Alexander, Braxton; greatgrandchildren Annabelle, Hazel, Benjamin; her sister Betty Coffey (né Judge) and family.
Mom was born in Montreal, Quebec. Mom attended McGill University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. She worked at Lower Canada College where she met Gregory. They moved to Collingwood in 1954 where they raised seven kids.
Her fondest memories were spending summers at her beloved cottage near Knowlton where she began her days at her favorite coffee spot by the water. She also loved playing tennis, hiking on the Bruce Trail, swimming, reading and chatting with family on the phone.
Recently, Mom told a granddaughter that she wanted to be remembered as “the best Mom!”. She had the ability to make each of her children feel like they were her favorite. She lived for her kids and cherished family gatherings, celebrations, and vacations.
She was always up for a challenge or adventure with her family. Mom cherished travelling with family to many destinations around the world. She loved the warmth of the sun, the sand between her toes, the sound of the waves of the ocean and the smell of the fresh mountain air.
She was immensely proud of all her family and never tired of hearing of our adventures and accomplishments. We always felt we were unconditionally loved. Mom found delight in the arrival of her grandchildren, and later, her great-grandchildren.
Mom was fiercely resilient with a gentle way and a beautiful smile. She was full of gratitude and optimism.
We would like to thank her support team, especially the caregivers from Comfort Keepers, Best Centered Care, staff and volunteers at Hospice Georgian Triangle, and to Kim and Lisa for their guidance.
Mom stayed in her home with family support up until her last few days. Her quality of life was enriched by the combined efforts of family, the Ontario Health at Home team and private care. It was truly a team approach.
RIP Mom, we hope you and Shelby are enjoying a long hike and a large chocolate ice cream.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Bruce Trail Conservancy or charity of your choice.
Visitation at Fawcett Funeral Home in Collingwood will be Thursday August 15th from 6 to 8 pm. Private interment to follow.
