Jean Simpson of Collingwood, Ontario, in her 91st year, passed away on May 26, 2024. She was born on April 20,1934 in Thornaby on Tees, England.
In 1956, she married Archie Lofthouse Simpson in Thornaby on Tees. They emigrated to Canada in 1957 and settled in Collingwood in 1958.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crafts. Being an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan was a large part of her life in her later years. She was a proud member of the Lady Lions Club and the Legion Auxiliary. Family was very important to Jean. She was very proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her four sons, Robert (Cindy), Mark, Paul (Shannon), James (Kara), her fifteen grandchildren, Andrew (Laura), Jenna (Luke), Samantha (Lucky), Courtney (Mike), Nicholas (Alex), Danielle, Mitchell, Kaylea (Tanner), Jeslyn (Aidan), Tayana (Jeremy), Joshua Jaden, Mason, Faith and Ashton, Her 12 great-grandchildren Benjamin, Lucy, Annika, Mark, Michaela, Georgia, Lennon, Monroe, Mirren, Teller, Evelyn and Kostin.
She was preceded in death by her husband Archie Lofthouse Simpson (1984), brothers Lawrence (2021), Kenneth (1934), her twin sister Mary (1934) and her parents Edward (1983) and Harriet Taylor (1975).
Jean’s nieces and nephews Keith, Margaret (Brian), Pauline (Tim), Kathleen (Martin), Eric (Lorraine) and Diane in the UK were all very special to her and they will remember her fondly.
A special thanks to the staff of Bayshore Rehab at the Waterside Retirement Home Wasaga Beach, the residents of West Winds apartment building and her daughter in law Sandi Simpson.
Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion on Saturday July 6, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or Hospice Georgian Triangle in Jean’s memory.
