It is with great sadness, that we share the news of the sudden passing of our mother, Dianne Christine Staples (nee Nichols), in her 74th year, on Monday August 12th, at Northumberland Hills Hospital, surrounded by many family members, mom received her wings. Wife of 47 years to Richard Staples. Loving mother to Pamela (James), John (Tammy), Corrinne (Stephen), Jason (Amanda) and Ben. Grandmother of Chantel, Dylan, Jody, Tyler, Kassandra, Dakota, Leah, Sophia and Mya and great grandmother of Payton and Olivia. Eldest sibling to Donna, (Dave) and Randy (Jackie); sister-in -law to Gary, Lance, Susan (Ivan) and Ben (Debbie). Dianne is predeceased by her parents Pamela Rudd Nichols and Edward Nichols, her mother & Father-in law James and Marjorie Staples, her younger sister Ruth and great granddaughter Autumn. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. Special “sister” to the late Jerry and Lynn; dear friend of Rose Carson (Aunt Rose to her five children). Dianne was born and raised in Courtice, then moved to Cobourg in early adulthood, where she would settle and raise her own family. Dianne was well known and easily recognized member of the community. She worked for many years in the hospitality industry and worked at the Cobourg Bingo Hall for many years. One of our childhood memories that stands out, was coming in the door from school, to the smell of freshly baked goods. She was known for bringing baked goods to a friend or neighbour, ‘just because’ …no reason required. Another fond childhood memory was her love of music. Conway Twitty, Loretta Lyn, Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette were some of her favourites. When she wasn’t listening to music, she would showcase her own singing talents on Friday and Saturday nights at O’Brian’s in Baltimore. And last but not least, let’s not forget her love of Bingo. Mom, we love you; you will be forever missed. Enjoy your time with all your loved ones, who undoubtedly, greeted you…welcoming you home. A graveside service will be held at Baltimore United Church Cemetery on Saturday August 31st at 11 am., followed by a celebration of life at the Cobourg Orange Hall (387 Ontario St.). If desired donations may be made to the SickKids Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
