Millie was a determined and creative woman with many skills, talents and interests which she shared with many. She sewed for others, herself, her family and her church. Her most magnificent creations were the wedding dresses she made for her three daughters. As the family historian, she loved sharing her heritage through scrapbooking and making cards which she affectionately created to send encouraging thoughts to others. She was a caregiver and mentor to countless children as a home daycare provider. She was a musical innovator and devoted years of her life to the music ministry of Calvary Church, directing musicals, choirs and playing the piano. Millie was an amazing cook and was always trying new recipes from a variety of cultures. Her gift of hospitality created an atmosphere in her home which provided meals and entertainment, bringing many people together. Family dinners were always an incredible feast. Nothing made her happier than to have a table full of family or friends enjoying a meal that she had prepared.
As a faithful woman of God, Millie was an active member of Calvary Church and the Coffee Break Program. Always positive, throughout her many health struggles, her motto in life was biblically inspired by the words in Philippians 4:6, ‘Do not be anxious about anything’. Millie was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of getting to know her including the new friends she met at the Active Lifestyle Centre. Memorial donations may be directed to the Chatham Kent Hospice or Calvary Christian Reformed Church Chatham.
