Passed away peacefully at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, on May 29, 2024, Mary Rosina Formosa, age 91, of Chatham-Kent, beloved wife (married 57 years) of the late Arthur Henry Formosa (2008).
Born in Birkikara, Malta in 1932, daughter of the late Giovanni and Delores Grech.
Loving mother of Carmen and Steve Tuinstra, Doris and Pat Nead, Mario and Carrie Formosa, Arthur and Darlene Formosa, Sidney Formosa and Sherry Clouthier, Rita Formosa and Stephen Moore, Lino Formosa and Christine Punnewaert, Jessie and Garth Cantin, and Robert Formosa. Sadly missed by 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Predeceased by a son John Louis Formosa, 3 grandchildren, and by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Mary had a gentle spirit and showed compassion for others. She was very hospitable, friendly and welcoming to everyone she met. Mary also loved to travel, especially to her home country of Malta, to visit her relatives. She loved to cook authentic Maltese dishes for her family, and enjoyed music, dancing, playing games, cards, and bingo.
Mary appreciated fashion, took pride in her appearance and always kept her home clean and well-decorated.
Mary was a devout, life-long Catholic with a strong belief and love for God the Father, His Son the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Mary also understood that salvation, through faith, was a gift from God, and accepted it fully. May she rest in peace with the Lord for eternity.
Friends and relatives may visit at Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Friday May 31, 2024, between 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church on Saturday June 1, 2024 at 10:00am.
Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Donations to St. Joseph’s Church would be appreciated.
