We’ve lost the most annoyingly witty, but so loveable Leland “Lee” Stuart Ellis on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
All who knew him will remember Lee for his razor-sharp sense of humour and charm, and his ability to come up with an excuse to get out of anything.
He was raised by parents Bill and Pat in the school of hard knocks, and yes we were told many times how he had to walk for miles in a blizzard to get to school. With that said, he was genuine to a fault, and will be remembered as a ‘Ladies Man’ to ‘The Girls’. In his life he was a champion cross-country runner and Couch Quarterback and GM in all bar sports, including shuffleboard, ball hockey, darts, bowling, golf, pool, etc.
Lee was a Certified Sheet Metal Worker all his life and worked side by side with his brother Bill. He was a proud husband and best-friend to his saintly wife Sally who happily shared laughs and life’s misadventures over 15 years. She continued to support him during his illness, making his days enjoyable.. Lee showed his love by tormenting and annoying his siblings; Bill (Betty) Ellis, Ruthann Howard, Darleen (Gerry) Makela, Sandy (Tom) Maynard, and Jodi (Kelly) Ellis.
He is survived by his children who inherited his quick wit; Carrie (Greg), Tim (Corinne), and Emilee (Laura), 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was also a beloved bonus father to Siobhan, Kim (Matt), and Renee.
Lee will be greatly missed by his lifelong friends Butch (Rose), and Kenny (Sheri), and his best brother-in-law Tom G., and Al Wilkinson.
So many people have helped in Lee’s care. An extra special Thank you to Carol (Wyatt), Ruthann, The Biddies, The Girls, and his cousin Gary. Our thanks too for all the culinary drop-offs, and to the best neighbours, Mike (Louise), Beth, and Carol K.
A body is just simply a package for the true gifts inside. Remember you are full of the gifts of, selflessness, kindness, and compassion and you choose to share with them others, all the things that matter, will be remembered.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Sunday, February 4th from 11am to 2pm at the Links of Kent in the
River Deck Room.
