John Wayne Summerfield Sr., of Ridgetown, Ontario, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Born in Chatham Ontario, son of the late John and Dorothy Summerfield on May 31,1951. Wayne will be deeply missed by Kimberley Thompson, his daughter Michelle Summerfield, his son John Summerfield, and his step-daughter Kristal Wright (Kori). He was a very proud grandpa to Jeremy Summerfield (Stacey), Skyler Pickard (Amy), Dustin Pickard, Grisel, Linda and Luz Summerfield, and Leslee, Katie, and Emily Wright and great-grandpa to Brooklynn Caasenbrood- Summerfield, Avery and Emma Summerfield, Peyton Benoit and Savannah Pickard, and Wyatt Pickard. He also leaves behind his siblings Cheryl Begin (Claude), Bonnie Graham, Kathy Vansickle (Randy), and Tammy Cartier (Dennis), and brother and sister in law Denise Summerfield and Wayne Daly. Predeceased by his twin sister Jaqueline, brother Robert, brother Dennis, sister Cindy and twin brothers Terry and Jerry and by his great-granddaughter Weslynn Pickard. Wayne also had many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews that he loved with all his heart.
Wayne enjoyed woodworking, bowling and collecting antiques after he retired from the Ford Assembly Plant in Talbotville. He enjoyed spending every moment with family, whether it being playing a game of euchre or nickels, or dancing on the dance floor. Wayne has left many memories that will last a lifetime for those who knew and loved him.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 1pm – 3pm at Life Transitions (397 McNaughton Ave W, Chatham). Cremation to follow.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 24, 2024 at 1pm at our family home (35 Ebenezer St. E, Ridgetown).
