Obituary of Ann Maria Meurkes
Ann passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Eden Villa on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the age of 93.
Ann was born in Holland on December 20, 1930 to the late Hendriks & Maria (nee Beurskens) Berends.
Married on May 5, 1954, she will be lovingly reunited with her late husband, Henry E. Meurkes (2019).
Loving mother of Ed Meurkes (Pat), Diane Meurkes (Garry Desjardine), Cheryl St. Denis (Charlie) and Jim Meurkes (Dee).
Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Lisa Dokter (Lance Phillip), Gord St. Denis (Kimberley N Johnson), Amy Francis, David Meurkes, Ken and Chuck Chappus.
Great-Oma of Winston, Lucy, Opal, Henry & Joey.
Predeceased by her sister Wilhilmina and brother-in-law Martin Jansen and numerous brothers & sisters in Holland
Missed by many friends, nieces & nephews.
Ann will be forever missed by her family and loved coffee time & visits with her friends and neighbours, Pat, Gerry & Audrey. Henry & Ann enjoyed their numerous yearly trips to Las Vegas and were proud to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in Didam, Holland in 2004 with her family and loved ones.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Cara McMahon & the staff of Eden Villa for their continuous care and compassion during her time there.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 17th, 2024 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Merlin.
