With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Annie Mertz, on Monday, February 19, 2024 after a hard fought battle with illnesses. She was born in England 80 years ago. Annie was the wife of the late Ray (2022) for 60 years. She was the loving mother of Mark Mertz (Kim), Mitsie Willder (Dwayne) and the late Derick Mertz. Proud grandmother of Wendel, Dylan (Nicole), Darin (Mercedes) and Mat. Great grandmother of Mason, Mikella, Maverick and Georgia. Annie was predeceased by her brother Joe. She will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Annie dedicated many years at the Legion Branch 642 involved in the Ladies Auxiliary, enjoying the sports events. A special thank you for the wonderful care Annie received at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance and the compassionate care from the staff at the Chatham Kent Hospice.
Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside committal service at Maple Leaf Cemetery will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Donations are welcome in Annie’s memory to the Chatham Kent Hospice Foundation.
