BERNIER, Shelley Margaret (nee Coulter) November 20, 1961 – June 6, 2024 – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother, Shelley Bernier. Shelley passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Chapleau Health Services on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, at the age of 62 years, after a long battle with lung disease.
Beloved wife of Pierre Bernier for 41 years. Adoring mother of Clayton & Brenda and Steven & Nicole. Cherished nana of Parker, Rowan, Preston, Charlotte and Pierce. Shelley was predeceased by her parents Frank and Ina Coulter. Baby sister of Gary (Louise) Coulter, Gail (JC Cyr), Doug (Wanda) Coulter and Allen (Margaret) Coulter.
She will be remembered as a special aunt and great aunt to many. Shelley worked at the Chapleau Public School for 25 years. She made a significant impact on those she supported. She kept in contact with many of them over the years. Her greatest accomplishment was being a dedicated wife, loving mother to her boys and the sweetest Nana to her five grandchildren. Spending time with her babies was the highlight in her life. She was their biggest fan in all that they did. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
The family would like to invite everyone who knew Shelley to a Celebration of her life on Friday, June 14th, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #5, Chapleau beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a service to start at 4:00 p.m. Cremation took place at River’s Edge Cremation Centre, Sault Ste. Marie.
A special thank you to the Toronto physicians, Dr. Stephen Saari, Hilary and the hospital and homecare staff and nurses.
Memorial donations made to the Chapleau General Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
