George Summers Obituary
George Robert (Bob) Summers
Born in Winchester and passed away peacefully at Perth Hospital on December 21st at the age of 86. Bob was the loving partner of the late Betty Carnahan for 35 years. He is survived by his loving son Jeff (Patty), sister Marlene Ranger (Don) and nephews Dan and Greg. He will also be greatly missed by his close friend Jim Bennett.
In his early years, Bob worked as a musician, travelling throughout the United States and played with greats, such as Waylon Jennings and Jerry Lee Lewis. He would continue to play music throughout his life. As a teenager he began building guitars and in the 70s he founded Shark Custom Guitars, which manufactured and sold guitars. In the mid 80s, Bob moved to Carleton Place and became head of Research and Engineering Dynamics and worked there until retiring at age 82. His lived in Innisville for his last 35 years and along with Betty he hosted many memorable Innisville Street Dances. He was well respected and will be missed by his musician friends and also by the members of the M.V.A.R. Train Club, in which he was an active member. What Bob missed most in his latter years was piloting airplanes and spending time in his cruiser on the St. Lawrence River around Alexandria Bay. Bob was always “UP FOR THE RIDE”.
