Vincent passed away peacefully on the 31st of January, 2024 with family by his side. He is predeceased by his wife Molly, his son Dwayne, his older sister, Sheila Farnum and his sister in-law, Griselda Forde. He is survived and will be dearly missed and remembered by his children Anthony Forde (Elena), Lisa Hurley (Devere), Kerry Granger and Richard Granger.
Vincent was the proud grandfather of Thomas, Jordan, Alicia, Delisa, Tevin, Deshaun, Deondre, Rhianna and great grandpa of Gabriella, Messiah and Amara. He will be dearly missed by his siblings, Michael Forde, Patricia Small (Tyrone), Beverly Smith, Cecelia Wharton, Trevor Wharton, Wendell Wharton, Angela Carter, and Cheryl Wharton. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Vincent was born in the island of Barbados to the proud parents of Joseph and Violet Forde-Wharton on the 13th of January, 1938. He immigrated to England in 1962 to further his education and become a qualified Mechanical Engineer. He then moved to Canada in 1964 where he pursued further education and working opportunities.
For those who knew Vince, they would be aware that education was especially important to him. He obtained an Engineering Degree from the University of Waterloo, a Business Degree from Brock University as well as a Diploma in Engineering from Conestoga College. He started his engineering career with Babcock and Wilcox in Cambridge. From there he went on to work with Montreal Engineering Company and then Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. He retired from SNC-LAVALIN after working there for many years. He traveled extensively in his duties over the years.
“Hard work and determination” were just a few of Vincent’s good qualities. His love and passion for cricket was unmatched. He played cricket in Barbados and spent several years with the Cambridge Cricket Club in the ‘Hamilton and District’ League. After he retired from the game, he remained actively involved by umpiring and supporting his local team. He also spent a lot of time doing his daily Sudoku puzzles and watching documentaries on YouTube.
Vincent’s family will receive friends and family for a visitation on February 23rd, 2024, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00–8:00pm at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday 24th February 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church. A Reception will be held in the afternoon of the funeral. Details will be advised later.
