The strongest limb from our family tree has fallen.
It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our wife, mother, and grandmother, Marlene Edith Milne (nee Smith) of Cambridge Ontario, in her 77th year.
She passed away peacefully at the Innisfree House surrounded by family on December 15, 2023.
Cherished and beloved wife of William Milne for 47 years. Loving mother to Robin Knowles (Mitch), Geoff Milne (Chantelle). Special grandma to Austin, Carter, and Brandon.
Affectionately remembered by brother Donald Smith (Winnie), sister Jean Kennedy, and sister in law Eleanor. As well as many neices, nephews, and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Lawrence Smith and brothers, Edward and Robert Smith (Marcia) and brother in law Edwin Kennedy.
Although small in stature and a quiet voice, she was able to command a room with her loving presence. Her greatest pride was her family, and she always made sure everyone felt cherished and valued.
She had a great love of animals and continued to be an advocate for animal welfare. Over the years, she provided a loving home to horses, donkeys, cats, dogs, and many small animals. All while not forgetting about wildlife in need.
In her spare time, you could find her at an Elivis Impersonator show or convention. She would be waiting front and centre of the stage, hoping to get a scarf and a kiss on the cheek. In hospice, the last song she wanted to hear was Amazing Graze by Elvis Presley.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Innisfree House or an animal rescue group of your choice.
She was loved beyond measure, and we will all miss her more than words can express.
