Bagley, Ellen Mary (nee Burscough) – Our loving mother Ellen Mary Bagley passed away peacefully August 12, 2024, at St. Lukes Place Nursing Home. She was 93 years old. Ellen was born in Bombay (Mumbai), India April 14th, 1931. She was the cherished sister to Andrew, Pat and Tommy. Orphaned at 14, she sailed to Bamber Bridge, Lancashire, England with her younger brother Tommy. At 18 she married the love of her life Wilfrid Armstead Bagley on March 25, 1950. A weaver by trade, she immigrated to Cambridge, Ontario in 1967 with her husband and three children. Ellen first worked at Dobbie’s on Dobbie Drive in Cambridge. After the birth of her fourth child she returned to work at Galt Hospital. She worked at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. After retirement she continued her life of service as a volunteer at the hospital for many years. Our mother was a remarkable woman with a deep Christian faith. A strong supporter of her family, with a deep love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A lover of all sports, later in life she could be found sitting in her recliner watching sports and knitting blankets or scarves for her family. Ellen is survived by her children Patrica Drowns (Cyril) Garnish NL, Wilfrid Bagley (Beverley) Maryhill, ON and Norman Bagley (Judy) and Andrew Bagley (Shelley) of Cambridge, ON. She will be dearly missed by her 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving, generous and giving lady who brought happiness and laughter to our lives. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St., N, Cambridge where family and friends will be received Sunday August 18, 2024, from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, Funeral Service at 1:00 pm followed by a reception.
