HEATON, Donald Roy –
On Sunday, December 15, 2024, surrounded by family, Donald Roy Heaton passed into eternity to be with his Lord and Savior.
Don was born to the late Walter and Janet (nee Atkinson) Heaton on January 18, 1933, in Hamilton, Ontario. He grew up in Hamilton, where he and his family were active members of James Street Baptist Church.
Don met his future wife, Elizabeth Anne Hull, while a patient at Hamilton General Hospital, where she was a student nurse. They were married June 15, 1957, and enjoyed almost 53 years together as best friends and spouses. Don and Beth had 4 children and 12 grandchildren.
A long-time resident of Mississauga, Don worked for many years as an art teacher at Britannia Vocational High School and West Park Vocational High School. After retirement, he and Beth worked as missionaries with Bible Club Movement. In his final years, Don lived near family in the Cambridge area.
Don loved the Lord and was active in ministry as a member of Erindale Bible Chapel in Mississauga. He worked with boys in Christian Service Brigade (Stockaders). Don served many years at Camp Mini-Yo-We, where he supervised the rifle range and was affectionately called “Ranger”. He was known, and beloved, for his daily devotional “Ranger’s Thought for the Day.”
Don loved spending time with family and enjoyed reading, photography, camping, and ceramics. It was not uncommon to find him reading aloud to his children and grandchildren.
Don was the loving father of D. Timothy, Colin (Ruth), Nancy Scott (Dean) and Heather Bronson (Andrew) and the loving grandfather of Curtis (Valerie), Anne (Ben), Samantha (Spencer), Rachel (David), Zachary (Adelle), Emily (Henry), Danielle (Andrew), Bethany (Cam), Melyssa (Taylor), Drew, Connie, & Trent. He was also the special great grandfather of Michael, Celeste, Colton, Davina, Willa, Salomea, Madeline, Neveya, Katie, Dallas, Evelyn, Cooper and Sullivan.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Beth, brother Walter, and sister Marilyn.
