Avard Tupper Brown of Cambridge, Ontario joined his beloved wife Grace on Monday October 21, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years less than two months ago. Now together in the presence of their Lord.
Avard was born November 15, 1934 in Scott’s Bay, Nova Scotia the son of the late Rufus and Stella Tupper Brown.
He is survived by his daughters Heather (Terry) England and Kathy (Colie) Florica. Predeceased by his sons Kevin Brown (1991) and Tom Brown (1998). He will be missed by his grandchildren whom he cherished: Chris (Jenn) England, Kyle England, Darcy (Emily) England, Brittany England, Shep (Lynda) Inglis, Scott (Carolyn) Inglis, Lindsay (Chris) Bruder, Kalli (Brad) Bone, Andrew Brown (Janelle), Amanda (Aden) Pamer, Tyler (Daniella) Florica and Shelly (Josh) Nitz. Papa is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren.
Avard was predeceased by his brothers: Ernest (Edith) Brown, Maurice (Lillian) Brown, Carl Brown, Merville Brown and his brother-in-law Frank MacDonald.
He is survived by his sister Barbara MacDonald along with many loving nieces and nephews from both the Brown and Schnare families.
Early in his marriage he was a truck driver. After moving to Ontario he had a few places of employment including Crowe Foundry and Butler Metal. He then went back to school and became a butcher. He worked at Dee’s Beef for 18 years followed by 14 years at MGI Meat Packers, where he was employed when he retired.
Avard was a skilled archer and spent many hours practicing at The Galt Sportsman Club accompanied by several close friends that he held close to his heart. He took the use of his archery skills hunting and particularly looked forward to their annual fall moose hunting trips.
Avard loved the Lord and served him faithfully at Hespeler Baptist Church where they attended for over fifty years.
A heartfelt thank you to Paramed PSWs especially Amy, Anne Marie, Debra and Sandra that provided assistance to Dad over the last year.
Thank you also to the staff at Age Care West Williams who have attended to his needs over the last few months.
Avard’s family will receive family and friends at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 12 noon – 1:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Lounsbury Funeral Home Chapel lead by Pastor Roger Pascoe at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Emmanuel United Church, 30 Main Street, Kingsport, NS B0P 1H0 (Please make cheques payable to Emmanuel United Church and mail to the above address)
