After living with cancer for just over a year, Sharon Ann Smith (nee Austin) succumbed to the disease and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 18th, 2024 at the age of 59. She is survived by her husband, Raymond and children, Erin and Cameron. Sharon was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, child welfare worker, and devoted parishioner. Sharon is predeceased by her parents, Carl and Ann Austin. She is the youngest of 5 siblings, Gerald (Marissa), Richard (Alla), Wayne, and Laurie (Paul). Daughter-in-law of Brian and Corrine Smith, Sister-in-law of Tracey and Grant, Lindsay and Brian, Sean and Alysha, and Jordan and Ashley. Aunt and Great Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Sharon worked in Child Welfare at the Children’s Aid Society of Haldimand and Norfolk for 33 years. She was also a faithful church member at St. Patrick’s Parish in Caledonia for the past 27 years. Finding strength and peace in her faith was important through her battle with cancer. Sharon loved to knit, play golf, read, play Euchre, have dance parties, spend time with friends and family, and travel. We extend our thanks to the staff at the Juravinski Cancer Clinic for the excellent care provided to Sharon. We also extend our gratitude and sincerest appreciation to the Stedman Community Hospice team for Sharon’s palliative care. Friends are invited to call at MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 28 Caithness Street East, Caledonia on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm (Parish Prayers will be said at 7:45 pm). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 107 Orkney Street East, Caledonia on Friday, November 22 at 11 am. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 315 Lanark Street Caledonia. Donations to the Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford would be appreciated by the family.
