In loving memory of a cherished and dearly missed mother who lived a remarkable 94 years. With sadness we announce the passing of Mary Lauren Buist (nee Restivo) on April 6, 2024. Predeceased by her parents Guiseppe and Filomena Restivo, siblings: Pauline, Harry, Sam, Charlie, Gus, Jenny and her beloved husband Alexander Buist and daughter MaryJo Buist. She is survived by her siblings: Annie, Louise, Rosie, Helen and Joe. She will be deeply loved and missed by her son Danny & his wife Janice and her daughter Patricia. She will be loved and missed by her 8 grandchildren Grant (Petronela), Greg (Marcy), Danielle (Evan), David (Tracy), Ryan (Vanessa), Matthew (Sarah), Kevin and Aaron (Emily) and missed by her 15 great grandchildren. Her joy in life came from simple pleasures like golf, playing cards, and bocce, as well as watching her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren pursue their interests. Whether they played, sang, danced, or played baseball, hockey, she was always there, cheering on her family with genuine enthusiasm. She seamlessly played the role of a jack-of-all-trades in the household, ever-ready to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Her warmth and willingness to assist were constants that made a house a home, wherever they lived. Even though she has departed, her legacy will endure in the hearts of those she touched. She will always be remembered as a presence that lingers in our thoughts, a source of love and warmth that time cannot diminish.
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held for the family at a later date. Many thanks to the staff at Norview Lodge (Spruce Court), Simcoe. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to Miller Funeral Chapel, Caledonia, Ontario.
