In Celebration of
Sheila May MacKenzie
May 13, 1927 –
July 8, 2024
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Sheila May MacKenzie (née Hale) who passed away peacefully at home on July 8th, 2024, at the age of ninety-seven. She is predeceased by her loving husband of seventy years, Reginald (Mac), and by her parents, Leonora (née Firth) and George Hale of England, and her eight siblings,
George (Patti), Charlie (Ethel), Terence (Irene), Sam (Mabel), Peter (Audrey), Mary (Ike), Dora (Ted), and Margaret (Arthur), as well as her son-in-law Ron and greatgrandson Keenan. Sheila is survived by her four daughters, Ellen (Rick), Sandra, Susan (Ed), and Doreen. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Richard (Caroline), Talhia, Amena (Jeff), Ginny (Shane), Andrew (Alex), Kristie (Marc), and Brian (Randall), and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Sheila benefitted from the care of a great palliative care team while she lived out her last weeks at home. Many thanks to Loretta, Nadia, nurses Zandele and Cindy from St. Elizabeth Health, and the PSWs from Acclaim Health and March of Dimes.
Sheila grew up in a musically talented family in England. She danced and sang and even cut a record at the age of sixteen with her brother Peter on piano. She was a very happy, social person. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society in Welland, Ontario. Here in Burlington, she enjoyed her Monday afternoons with the seniors and staff at Wellness House. She will be missed by many, especially her loving family.
Rest in peace, Mom.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to March of Dimes Canada would be appreciated.
