Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home on Sunday, October 1, 2023, Nicholas Monaco entered into eternal rest at age 42. Beloved son of Alex Monaco and loving brother to Alexandra. Cherished son of Barb Monaco. Dear nephew to Liz and Larry Gleason, Michael Silvestro, Cecile and Tony Monaco, Tina Mair, Claudio Mostacci, Donna Adamson and Irene Brinkmann. Loving cousin to Meaghan (Neil), Andrew (Cady), Joey, Paul (Gabe), Victor, Melissa, Alexander (Nathalie), Veronica (Chris), Lindsay (Pat) and Jenna. He will be sadly missed by his nieces Adrienne and Spencer and nephews Carter and Harrison in Calgary. Nicholas is being welcomed into heaven by his Nonna, Grandpa, Oma, Opa, his Great-Aunt Vera and Great-Uncle Vittorio, his Aunt Margie, Uncle Hans, Aunt Betty and cousin Andrew. He will also be missed by his many friends in Calgary and extended family members in the United States, Italy and Germany.
Nicholas highly valued helping others and never missed an opportunity to support his family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and communicated ‘the stats’ with encyclopedic precision. He also enjoyed driving his Subaru around Alberta, admiring the beautiful scenery along the way.
Many thanks to Dr. Jason Profetto and his team, the team at Juravinski Unit – C3 and Dr. Kazemi from Juravinski Oncology. Also, sincere thank-you to the palliative care team and nurses Anne, Sandy and Erin for their comforting care and compassion during their visits.
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Thursday, October 5th from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Nicholas’ Funeral Service will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 6th at 1:00 p.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington.
