Mary Helen Fletcher

In her 85th year, on October 30, 2024, Big H passed quietly and peacefully to meet up with her husband of 60 years, Ronald and beloved daughter Terry. Helen retained her sense of humour and spirit throughout her short hospital stay, making friends and having laughs with hospital staff and her roommate.
Helen will be forever missed by her children, Al (Debbie), Connie (Sil), Son-in-law Derek and grandchildren Ashley, Marcus (Melissa), Ciara, Joseph, Brittany (James), Felicia (Sam), Chelsea (Dan), Olivia and Nick (Jade). Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Of special mention are Diane, Chris, Simon (Kristen) and Courtney (Jacob) and their families, who provided incredible friendship to Helen for so many years.
Helen was born in PEI then came to Ontario and “worked her way” through McMaster University where she met lifelong friend Doris. She married her devoted husband Ronald on August 8, 1959. Staying home to raise their three kids and in later years providing daycare for her grandchildren. Helen had an extensive friend group in her neighbours and Avon (President’s Club) customers. As a dedicated lover of animals, she kept her house full of furry creatures. All the street animals knew which house to hit up for a three-course meal and a warm homemade house with a garden view. The line at the rainbow bridge will be extensive.
In her later years, as the ‘Mayor of Etherington’ Helen knew and was recognized by most everyone on the street.
Thanks to Juravinski staff at F4, especially Drs. Eshak & Karachi and nurses, Jamie and Mckayla for Helen’s care and their incredible compassion.
Cremation has taken place, and a small private family service will be held as per Helen’s wishes.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA or the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities.
