In Celebration of
Joan Helen Zamora (née Murmylyk/Morley)
December 24, 1939 –
September 26, 2023
Taken peacefully with grace and dignity into the arms of our Loving Lord at the Mississauga Hospital with her family at her side. She leaves her beloved husband, Walter Joseph, of more than 64 years, who called her “my everything”. Go into God’s light, my love. Joan joined her inspirational parents Catharine Morley/Garbas and John J. Morley and her grandparents Samuel and Helen Murmylyk and Mary and Stanley Garbas. Joan is survived by her large family: her four siblings; Ken (Connie) Morley, Frank (Helen) Morley, Paul (Christine) Morley and Catharine Corbacio; her seven children and partners: Anne and Mike Gragtmans, Mike Zamora, Theresa and Ron McMillan, David Zamora, John Zamora, Stephen and Robyn Zamora and Paul and Audra Zamora; her 21 grandchildren: Christopher, Laura, Julia and Nicholas Gragtmans; Emily, Jacob, Adam, Andrew Zamora; Catharine, Elizabeth and Claire McMillan, Victoria McMillan deceased; Benjamin, Rebecca, Matthew, Samuel, Megan Zamora; Cayden Rohne; Hannah, Cailyn and Ailene Zamora; her 14 great-grandchildren: Alice, Polly and Claire Gragtmans; Rumi and Homer Charles; Resner and Edison Collins; Lochlan and Rowan Carlson; MacKenzie Zamora; Jack Zamora; Chloe Di Girolamo; Rafael Bisbicis; and Max Ronco. Along with Joan’s many other relatives, remembered as well are Walter’s two brothers Steve and Emil Zamora and their families and also his deceased parents Antonina and Nicolas Zamora.
Joan’s wisdom, compassion and endurance were ever present in her fierce commitment to her large family, her many friends and family roots. Her teaching abilities were highly respected both by her students and her peers during her 30 plus years in the classroom. All students benefited from her understanding and loving care.
We miss her love and laughter, her faithfulness and friendship, her caring and companionship, her thoughtfulness and tenderness, her warmth and wit and her inner and outer beauty. We are better people for having known her. We remember her with love and cherish the years God allowed us to be with her.
We give sincere thanks to the Mississauga Hospital staff for their care, compassion, and skill.
