FERRI, Dino
March 18,1926- October 17, 2024
It is with heavy hearts and tears that we announce the passing of Dino Ferri, who passed away peacefully in the embrace of his loving wife of 63 years, Alesiana, and surrounded by his adoring family in his 99th year.
Dino was best known as a devoted husband, father, nonno, zio, and friend, affectionately known as ‘il Barbiere.’ He will be deeply missed by his wife Alesiana, daughter Nancy (late John Howarth), son Mario, and his cherished grandchildren, Lucas, Cristina, and Rianna.
Beloved son of the late Giuseppe and Maddalena Ferri (née Lupi), Dino is predeceased by his sister Maria (Basilio), brothers Gino (Adalgisa), Mario (Marisa), Franco (survived by wife Emidia), and by his youngest sister Vincenza (survived by husband Roberto).
A wonderful zio to Phil (Wilma), Maria (Aldo), Mimmo (Carol), the late Mario, and Laura, he was a caring zio to all their children. Dino will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews in Italy, as well as by friends in Canada and abroad. A special thank you to the caring nurses and personal support workers at Wentworth Lodge in Dundas, and to ‘Chella,’ his personal support worker Ivana, for her years of dedicated care at home.
Dino Ferri was born in Ascoli Piceno, Le Marche, Italy, and began his distinguished career as a barber during his teenage years. His adventurous spirit took him to Brazil, where he lived for four years before settling in Hamilton, Ontario. There, he established his roots, raised his family and continued his remarkable career as a barber and straight-blade shaver, serving his loyal clients at Terminal Towers and Total Image until the age of 75. Dino’s meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to perfection were evident not only in his craft but also in the care he devoted to his flourishing backyard garden.
You could always find Dino outside basking in the warm sun or walking around the neighbourhood and enjoying nature. He was known for his profound appreciation for wine and delectable sweets, particularly his cherished “Ciambolone” coffee cake. Dino exuded kindness, love, and warmth, and his easy-going demeanor was encapsulated in his cherished motto, ‘Don’t worry, be happy!’ He had a knack for making others laugh with his witty sense of humor and playful nature. Dino truly embodied the spirit of spreading joy and positivity to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
