In Celebration of
Barbara Jean McCulloch
March 6, 1931 –
October 11, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara “Barb” Jean McCulloch (Galley), a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, on October 11, 2024, at the age of 93. Barb was surrounded by her family, who meant the world to her.
Family was the centre of Barb’s life, and she found her greatest joy in her role as a devoted matriarch. She leaves behind her beloved husband Gord, her steadfast partner throughout their 73 cherished years together. Barb will be deeply missed by her brother, Richard (Betty), children, Karen (John), “Golden-Boy” Michael (Susan), Catherine, and “Baby” Stephen (Wendy), grandchildren (Lara, Michelle, Nicole, Lauren, Ashleigh and Jacquelyn), and great-grandchildren (Andersen, Quinten and Hannah), aunt to Brian and Susan, as well as her extended family and friends, all of whom she adored and nurtured with unwavering love.
Barb radiated kindness and grace in everything she did. Her gentle spirit and warm presence touched the lives of many, creating lasting memories with all who were fortunate enough to know her. She taught her children and grandchildren about love, patience, kindness and resilience and always put everyone else’s needs ahead of her own.
Barb was born in Toronto on March 6, 1931, and raised in Galt, Ontario. She met Gord on a blind date — set-up by one of her friends — and they loved to dance. They married in 1951 and lived in Galt. Over the years they lived in Hamilton, Kitchener, and Toronto before settling in Burlington. Barb worked in retail, at Robinsons and Simpsons. She loved to read, dance, play cards and belonged to a bowling team.
Her family was her first priority. She loved nothing more than caring for and hosting her children and grandchildren, who enjoyed her cooking (pea soup and turkey soup were favourites) and swimming in her backyard pool. Family BBQs and Sunday roasts were abundant, and twice-a-year Barb would enjoy a Coors Light.
Her loss will be deeply felt, but her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
