It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Joan (Johanna) Hazeleger-Van Santen (nee Koutstaal) on Saturday July 20, 2024 at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husband Joe Van Santen (2004) and sons Bob (2007) and Terry (1991). She will be greatly missed by her husband Gerrit (Gerry) Hazeleger, son Harv (Joan) and grandsons Garret (Jackie), Jonathan (Rebekah), Kristopher (Sarah), Nik (Brittany), Derek, Ben, Shawn (Kaitlynn), Devon (Leah) and 11 great-grandchildren. Joan will be sadly missed by her stepchildren; John (Sue), Hank (Nancy-Lee), Deb (Scott), Annette (Tom), Nancy (Tim), Cindy (Kevin) and their many children and grandchildren. Mourning her loss is also her large extended family in the Netherlands. Joan was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will be received at the Heritage Reformed Congregation Church, 685 Main St. S, Burgessville on Tuesday from 6-8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 10-10:45 a.m. followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed at hnrc.ca Interment Pioneer Cemetery, Burford. Arrangements entrusted to the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Sakura House, the wonderful hospice where she spent her last days. Keith Ovington 519-449-1112
