It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Rose Gratto, surrounded by her family, after a brief, but courageous battle with Cancer on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, in her 60th year.
Dear Mother of Jason (Dean) O’Marra and Corey (Kaitlyn) O’Marra, and Grandmother of Rielly, Spencer and Claire. Beloved Sister to Joyce, Betsy, Carol, Jane, Marion, Kathy, Cassy and Connie. Predeceased by her Sisters, Guyletta and Peggy, and Brother, Bamford. Helen will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Helen appreciated the small things in life. She never wanted for much and treasured all that she had. She adored her family, and time with friends, and looked forward to visits and gatherings. Helen had a great sense of humour, and was also a kind and gentle soul. She loved animals and nature. She took great joy in feeding the squirrels, and for a period of time, fostered cats who awaited adoptions. Helen took pride in her garden, and knew all the birds in her yard. Her indoor hobbies included crocheting, knitting, and puzzling.
The family would like to send their sincere thanks to the staff at the Norfolk General Hospital for their care and compassion, and for all those who sent their thoughts and prayers comforting Helen during her final weeks with us.
In keeping with Helen’s wishes, a cremation will take place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Helen’s memory. Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford, Ontario 519-449-1112
