Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on Sunday November 5, 2023. Ted Thompson, of Cathcart, in his 85th year. Beloved Husband of the late Suzann (nee Stephenson-2017). Loving Dad of Wendy (Mike) Buchanan, Chris (Gillie), Patty (Mike) Cluett and Jeff (Leigh Anne). Cherished Grandpa of Sydney, Cole, Anthony, Miranda, Paige and Luke. Predeceased by sister Eleanor Proulx. Ted will be sadly missed by his girlfriend Marjorie Johnston, family and friends.
Ted was actively involved with the Royal Canadian Legion (Burford, Cathcart, Harley Branch #543) for more than 50 years of service, taking on several volunteer leadership roles. He always referred to Burford and Harley as suburbs of Cathcart.
Ted was an avid and impressive golfer who was keen to keep an accurate score card for all. He truly missed his beloved game and camaraderie in the last year. Ted is fondly remembered by many student drivers during his long time career as an instructor with Young Drivers of Canada.
Family and friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. A Celebration of Ted’s Life will be held on Sunday November 12, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ted’s memory may be made to the Burford Cathcart Harley Legion. 519-449-1112. www.keithovington.ca
