Cradled in the arms of the love of his life at John Noble Home in Brantford on Sunday, December 29, 2024 in his 71st year, Thomas James Young, beloved husband of Glenna Young crossed the gates to Eternity. Loving father of Lisa (Justin) Fradette, Kelli Russell, Sam Russell, Rebecca |(Philip) Schuyler, Cordell (Tara) Piovesan, Brodell (Carly) Piovesan and predeceased by sons Ryan Young(2023) and Tyrell Piovesan (2010). Dear youngest brother of Penny Sharkey, John (the late Rita) Young, David Young, the late Vicki Russell. Much loved grandfather of Landon, Maryn, Hadley, Claire, Declan, Harrison, Miller, Salem, Foster, Felix, Marlowe, and Harper.
Tom was a Deacon and long time member of Farringdon Independent Church ; he loved ballroom dancing, especially enjoying New Year’s Eve galas and the Octagon. Tom loved travelling the Trent River on his Searay Boat, staying at B&Bs along the way. For many years Tom enjoyed being a gentleman farmer raising muscovy ducks and chickens. He loved animals and took in every stray that came their way – even bowing to Glenna when she wanted pot bell pigs, Poseidon and Petunia. Tinkering with cars and farm machinery was a favourite past-time. Tom could fix almost anything – which made him the ideal mate for Glenna who could break almost anything! Most impressive was Tom’s desire to help others – whether through community service, volunteering, or fundraising by hosting an annual Pig Roast at the farm. Tom was a former coach and referee with the Brantford Church Hockey League; a past president of the Tri-Church division of the BCHL. Tom was a contractor for various International Truck Centers throughout southern Ontario. He loved putting together new dealerships and his trademark was checkerplate.
Family and friends will be received at a memorial visitation at the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road North, Brantford on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorial service at Farringdon Independent Church, 287 Mt. Pleasant Road, Brantford on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. At the family’s request, due to health issues, the family are requesting that during the visitation and funeral service those attending, please wear a mask and use hand sanitizer. If wished donations may be made to The Alzheimers Society Brant Haldimand Norfolk, Purrfect Companions of Norfolk, or Day and Stay Program at John Noble Home.
