Reginald Willis Tufford Obituary
TUFFORD, Reginald Willis
We sadly announce the passing of Reginald (Reg) Tufford on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Beloved husband and soulmate to Joyce Richardson-Tufford, his love for his family was immeasurable. He was the proud father of Bruce and loving brother to Larry and Nancy Tufford. He was also the much-loved father to Jeffery and Sandra Richardson, Christy and Gary Van Dyk and grandfather to Lawren and Will. Much-loved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Reg was predeceased by his first wife Barbara and his parents Willis and Myrtle Tufford.
Reg grew up in Beamsville. His family had a fruit farm and farming was always part of Reg’s life, until he retired from it in 2011. Reg grew exquisite apricots, peaches, cherries, pears and apples, which were carried to market in his beloved 1964 Chevrolet truck.
In addition to farming, Reg worked as an Engineering Technologist and Supervisor at General Motors in St. Catharines. He did stints at all three General Motors plants. He also taught part-time at Niagara College.
We have lost a great man. Reg was kind, decent, selfless, patient and humble. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He served as the Rector’s Warden and a member of the parish council of St. John’s Anglican Church in Jordan for many years. He was a longtime member of the Niagara Antique Power Association. He proudly displayed yearly at Marshville, Pioneer Day, Ball’s Falls and other antique power events.
His favourite pastimes were going for coffee and breakfast, going antique shopping, vacationing, gardening, puttering in his workshop, caring for his dog Molly, and simply being Joyce’s constant companion and soulmate.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Niagara Region Paramedics, Dr. Anderson, Dr. Tam and the nurses in the Intensive Care Unit of the St. Catharines General Hospital who skillfully tried to save Reg from the terrible infection that took his life and made him comfortable in his final hours.
Cremation has taken place.
Family and friends will be received at St. John’s Anglican Church in Jordan, Ontario on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm. A celebration of Reg’s life will follow in the church at 2:00 pm with reception to follow in the Hearth Room.
