Edward Blake Konkle
April 12, 1929 – November 14, 2024
The Konkle family is saddened to announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather, Blake Konkle. He was in his 96th year.
Blake leaves behind 5 children, E. Blake Jr. (Patricia d. 1981) (Sharon), Scott (Vi), Ted (Karen), Pamela Moore, and Jennifer (Dan) Poursanidis. He enjoyed his 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Blake was predeceased by his wives Reta Joan (Parker) Konkle (1987) and Patricia Shannon (Louth) Konkle (2007).
Blake grew up on a peach farm on Lincoln Avenue in Beamsville, but as a young man, his interest in electricity steered him to join Bousfield Electric to wire houses for several years. He was drawn to Thompson Products (TP) in St. Catharines with the challenge of servicing the automotive parts machinery. TP changed to TRW years later and he spent the balance of his working career with the company.
Retiring early in his 50’s, Blake took up golf, which he enjoyed into his 80’s. He was an avid hunter and fisherman since his childhood. He progressed from riding his bicycle from Lincoln Avenue in Beamsville to Jordan harbour to fish for perch, to driving north to Chapleau to hunt moose.
Blake’s community spirit drove him to join the Beamsville Fire Department where he volunteered for decades, retiring as Fire Chief. This interest spilled into his employment where he was Fire Chief for the TP/TRW firemen as well.
The family would like to thank the care of Dr. Woodland and his team at the Beamsville Medical Clinic and the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
