Obituary
It is with great sorrow to announce the sudden passing of Stephen Yong-Wah Lim (林永華) on Saturday, November 16, 2024 in North York at the age of 74. Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Rufina Hung-Tjon Ho, his son, Henry and his daughter-in-law, Maria and grandchildren Clara and Lucas.
Stephen was born on December 3, 1950 in China where he spent his early childhood and later moved to Hong Kong to attend primary school. While on track for a promising career in tourism, he sacrificed his career aspirations and immigrated to Canada with his wife and young son in his late 30s in pursuit of a brighter future for the family. Despite cultural differences and language barriers with a new life in Canada, Stephen worked primarily in retail to support his family relentlessly until his retirement. While his retirement was short-lived, he enjoyed his happiest years prior to his passing with ample of quality time spent with close relatives and friends. Stephen will be remembered for his kindness, empathy and warmth by everyone who knew him.
A reception will follow the interment service at a nearby restaurant. Please RSVP to Henry at hgclim.online@gmail.com by Thursday, November 28 if you can attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in memory of Stephen would be greatly appreciated.
