Obituary
Mother of Mary (Russell) and Irene (Carneletto). Wife of the late Boguslaw (Mac) Klimek.
Rita was born in Saeby, near Aalborg, Denmark in October of 1926; she was proud of her Danish heritage, even though early life for her had many difficult challenges.
Rita enjoyed being a homemaker but she also worked as a merchandise clerk at Sayvette, Towers and finally she retired from Zellers.
Her interests were sewing, embroidery, knitting, and cooking (danish and polish specialties for my dad) baking – gingerbread men and butter tarts were her specialty – and reading predominantly biographies (stories had to be true!). In her later years she enjoyed living both at Tollendale Village residence in Barrie, and then at Malton Village LTC. She excelled at knitting hats and sweaters for the great-grand babies in our family. She was a cherished Gramma Rita to Michael, (Olivia) Caitlin, (Dave) and Madelaine (Joel). Rita loved her son-in-law Kevin with all her heart.
She often said that her greatest joy was spending time playing and laughing during weekend visits with her granddaughter Sarah whom she will love forever and after.
A special thank you to the wonderful and caring Malton Village staff, PSW’s and the nurses who made her final years so much more pleasant, safe and fun.
Also thank you to Jennifer DaRosa who treated my mom like her own while living at Tollendale Village.
I will miss my mom every day.
