Ralph Archibald Ash passed away peacefully at Barrie Manor on May 29, 2024. Born in 1931 to Thomas and Margaret Ash, in his youth Ralph lived in a number of communities including Paisley, Drew and Harriston. He married Helen Mary Ash (nee Brimblecombe) in 1951 in Galt, Cambridge and shortly thereafter moved to Galt with his family. Ralph was a tradesman who took great pride in his work and who could turn his hand to just about anything. His longest tenure was at Joy Manufacturing in Galt where he became a welding supervisor and foreman. Ralph and Helen raised four children; Bill Ash (Ruth) of Barrie, Brenda Hobson (Brian) of Barrie, Mike Ash (Lesley) of Seaforth and Dan Ash (Kathy) of Niagara Falls. Ralph was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Ralph was predeceased by his parents, 8 of his 10 siblings, his wife Helen and two of his grandchildren.
He will be remembered as a kind, generous, hardworking person who always had a smile.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 15 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Basic Funeral Home – Jennett Memorial Centre, 152 Bradford Street, Barrie, 705-722-6656, barrie@basicfunerals.ca
