In the fullness of time and confident in God’s amazing grace, our father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend Hendrik (Henk Bouwers) passed at 88 years old, into the glorious rest that awaits all who put their trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ. We grieve, but not as those without hope. Henk is reunited with his wife Gail, but leaves behind his children (Shirley Ann Benton (Bruce), Jane Louise Dijkema (Clarence), John Henry Bouwers (Geraldine), Judy Gail Hamilton (John), David William Bouwers (Lisa)) and grandchildren (Melissa Johnson (Pete), Katie Johnson, Madison Benton, Mackenzie Lawson (Kyle), Tanner Benton, Makayla Benton (Marc), Joel Dijkema (Julie), Erin Dijkema, Jenna Dijkema, Kristi Walker (Jed), Matthew Bouwers (Natasha Voogd), Rachel Bouwers (Kyle), Lucas Bouwers (Lauren), Brittany Hamilton (John Ross Grigsby), Katie Komarinecs (Roman), Alex Hamilton (Stephanie Elms), Emily Hamilton (Mackenzie LaRochelle), Andrew Hamilton (Julia Portanova), and Christian Bouwers) and great grandchildren (Elizabeth Johnson, Beau Johnson, Evander Benton Sabahi, Corben Lawson, Emma Lawson, Rylenn Benton, Leah Dijkema, Noah Dijkema, Naomi Dijkema, Violet Roubos, Sophie Roubos, Hailey Bouwers, Eli Bouwers, Wesley Bouwers, Roman Komarinecs, and Riley Komarinecs). Henk is also survived by 2 sister in-laws Gertie Bouwers and Coby Bouwers.
Henk is reunited in death with two grandchildren, Sara Dijkema and Joshua Bouwers as well as 6 brothers and 2 sisters and spouses: Lukas Bouwers (Roelie), Kor Bouwers (Jannie) (Donna), Riek Briemer (Henk), Hanna Weima/Bakker (Piet)(Ellke), Fred Bouwers (Martje) (Carole), Albert Bouwers, Arthur Bouwers, John Bouwers (Anne). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Johannes Bouwers and the former Jantje Flokstra.
Visitation will take place at the Athens Christian Reformed Church , on Saturday September 21, 2024 from 9 – 11 a.m. Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Glen Elbe Cemetery immediately following service, with luncheon to follow at Church Hall. Donations to the Brockville Palliative Care (BGH), Heritage Community Christian School or the charity of your choice, will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
