Obituary of Verna Ropchan
Peacefully at the Grove Nursing Home in Arnprior, ON, on Saturday evening, February 3, 2024, Verna passed away at the age of 84.
Cherished mother of Jane Purdy (Caron Howse) of Ottawa, ON. Loved sister of Margaret Clark (late Rex) of Kitchener, ON. Verna was predeceased by her brother Wilf Ropchan (Marion Proctor-Kuula) of Espanola, ON and her sister Helen Tomlinson (late Ross) of Burlington, ON.
Born in Arbakka, Manitoba to Nykola and Irene (nee Kereliuk) Ropchan. Verna was raised in Espanola, ON and moved to Toronto, ON to complete her training as a nurse. She spent her adult life in Mississauga, ON retiring from the Queensway General Hospital in the late 1990’s. Verna loved the lifestyle at her summer home and moved full time to Spring Valley Cottage and RV Resort in Mount Forest, ON for the last couple decades of her life. She was an active member of the Cooksville United Church in Mississauga and the Mount Forest United Church throughout her life. Verna enjoyed reading, walking, bowling, and playing cards when she wasn’t volunteering at church or in the community.
Verna’s private care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home.
