Obituary of Rick “Fergie” Fergusson
In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital; Rick passed away at the age of 74.
Beloved husband of Maryjane (nee Strelbisky) for over 45 years.
Rick was predeceased by his dear son Graham (November 26, 2023), as well as his brother Brian (Martha).
Loved brother-in-law of Anne Darling (Tom), Michael Strelbisky (Darcy), Walter Strelbisky and Janice Dempsey.
Rick will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and neighbours.
Son of the late James and Averil (nee Lohnes) Fergusson.
Son-in-law of the late Walter and Beatrice (nee Reddick) Strelbisky.
Rick worked for many years as a head buyer at Lobe Variety Sales before moving on to BRF Heating and eventually opened Fergie’s Place Convenience Store in Kinburn. After 12 years of serving up extra large scoops of ice cream, Rick moved on from Fergie’s and began to work at the Palladium, where he would eventually take on the role of Acting Warehouse Manager.
Aside from his work, Rick had a passion for sports and volunteered his time to umpire softball and manage both the Nepean Raiders Hockey Team and the Nepean Lacrosse Team for many years throughout his life. He also spent a few years working alongside the Arnprior Packers.
Richard’s arrangements have been entrusted to the
Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future. Details will be posted here.
