Terence John Mortimer

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Terence John Mortimer (known by most as Terry or TJ) at his home in Alliston with family by his side.
TJ is survived by his wife Maria, sons Darren (Margot) and Gary (Amanda), and grandchildren Noah, Dylan, Aliyah, and Lauren. He is predeceased by his parents Edith and Jack Mortimer. TJ spent his early years in West Yorkshire, England until 1977 when he immigrated to Canada with his wife and two sons, settling first in Bramalea and later to the Alliston area where he lived the rest of his life. TJ was an avid Scouter both in the UK and Canada, had a passion for trains or any type of large vehicle, and enjoyed the outdoors. He and Maria spent over 30 years volunteering for Scouts Canada with the 1st Alliston and 1st Borden Scout groups. TJ will be remembered for the sparkle in his eye, his witty sense of humour, love of a good book, and his immense pride in his family. TJ will be missed by all but will live on in our hearts forever.
We wish to thank the numerous doctors, nurses, and personal support workers for the many years of care they provided.
We will celebrate TJ’s life on Monday February 12th, 2024, at Drury Funeral Centre with visitation at 12:00pm, ceremony at 1:00pm, and reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in TJ’s name to The War Amps or the New Tecumseth Public Library.
