Ron passed away peacefully at Matthews House Hospice, Alliston, at the age of 89 with family by his side.
Ron was the loving husband (63 years) and best friend of Mary (nee Ball), beloved father of David (Maureen) of Nipawin, Sask., cherished grandpa of Caitlin and Samuel, beloved uncle of Geoffrey Ball (Trish), proud godfather of Julie Whitley (Steve), brother of Richard (Marian), and brother-in-law of Evelyn Stewart. Ron was predeceased by his parents Norman and Molly.
Ron was born in Newmarket, raised in Long Branch and for 32 years farmed west of Everett. He graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph in 1956. In 1986 Ron and Mary moved to Alliston.
Ron was a kind, caring and a quietly determined man who will be missed by his nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours and all who knew him.
Ron had many interests – reading, curling, hiking, birding, maintaining a bluebird trail, learning to play the guitar, jamming…
Over the years, Ron and Mary have enjoyed many camping adventures throughout Canada and have spent many summers camped in the backyard of their Sask. Family. Summer was their time to be away from home!!
A Celebration of Life will be held at Drury Funeral Centre 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston on Saturday, June 29, 2024 with visitation from 2 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron’s memory to Matthews House Hospice or Stevenson Memorial Hospital Fdn. would be appreciated.
