Leon (Lee) Richard McKergow, in his 84th year, of Alliston, Ontario, passed away on February 12, 2024.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carole McKergow (nee Parsons), daughter Bonnie Davies (nee McKergow) and spouse Michael Davies, son David McKergow and spouse Linda McKergow (nee Martin), grandchildren Tiffany McKergow and spouse Manav Diwankatera, Taylor Strain (nee Davies) and spouse Derick Strain, Alex McKergow and fiancé Paige Sutton, Megan McKergow, Justin Davies, Ben Davies, Great granddaughter Elsie Strain. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Dennis (nee McKergow) and spouse John Dennis. Lee will be missed by his many family members and friends. Lee is preceded in death by his parents Ernest Alan McKergow and Sylvia McKergow (nee Bell King), and brother Ken McKergow.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 18th from 2-4 p.m. with memories shared at 3 p.m. at Drury Funeral Centre Ltd 519 Victoria St. E. Alliston, ON.
Lee proudly served the RCMP and retired as Staff Sargent in 1985 where he began his second career as Deputy Chief of Police, Chief of Police – Manager of Police Services at the University of Toronto which he retired from in 2000. Lee’s motto was “make a difference.” Lee’s incredible work ethic, smile will be remembered by all those that knew him through the years.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff of IOOF of Barrie for their hard work and kindness everyday but especially in Lee’s final days. Also a special thanks to the medical care provided by Dr. Black, Dr. Chen, Dr. Nay through the years.
