Alan Fraser Scott
February 4, 1968 – November 2, 2024
Suddenly at home in Newmarket, Ontario, 56 years old.
Alan was the soulmate and best friend of Anne, amazing father and hero to his girls Cameron and Lilly. He was the loving son of Donna Scott and the late Bruce Scott, brother to Robert Scott (Zabrina) and uncle to Hayden and Trinity. Beloved son-in-law to Ben and Honnie Macht, brother-in-law to Chris Macht (Dara), and Jill Bruder (Russell). Uncle to Brittney, Colton, Megan and Jasper. Uncle Al loved treating all his nieces and nephews. He will be missed by numerous loving cousins, including Patricia Smith, and many loyal friends.
Alan grew up in the Adjala and Alliston, Ontario areas. He studied Aquaculture at Sir Sanford Fleming College. Never afraid of hard work, Alan had several occupations in his younger years, but eventually settled into sales, building a successful sales agency in industrial sales. For those that worked with Al, they never felt like colleagues to him, but friends, as Al made everyone feel important and treated everyone he came into contact with equally.
Al loved the outdoors and especially fishing. He grew up in the country and spent many summers at his family cottage in Baysville, ON, where he learned all things fish from his grandparents and father. A cottage on the French River fulfilled his dream and was his happy place. Here he was always on the hunt for Pickerel in his boat or off the dock. So many special memories with family and friends were created in this little bit of paradise, the most treasured times just sitting on the dock in the evening with his girls.
Cooking was another passion of his and he often hosted friends for “dinner”, which always ended up being a 7-course gourmet meal. Our big Christmas parties involved food prep weeks in advance. He loved entertaining family and friends and remained close to his friends from Alliston for 40+ years, a “band of brothers”.
Everybody loved Al. He made friends everywhere he went with a smile and his witty sense of humour. He had a big beautiful heart and made people laugh every day. It was impossible to have a conversation where he didn’t make you laugh. He was a true character with his shorts-wearing year-round, his love of going barefoot, and was often seen working the barefoot/shorts combo by neighbours going to get the mail, in any kind of climate. Growing up on a hobby farm, Al always had a deep love for all animals, especially dogs, and the dogs he met loved him back. He will be missed by his special little black dog friend Karin, but will be greeted by his beloved Teddy and Buddy. As a farm-kid at heart, Al could fix anything, and learn anything. He even taught himself to play guitar. He had a true passion about life and had so many ideas for the future. He worked hard until the very end.
Above all, Alan cherished his family. His daughters Cameron and Lilly made his heart so proud, and he lived for them. Al was their role model, and no matter what age his daughters would always have so much joy when they came home and could talk and have a laugh with their Dad. Al and Anne fell in love immediately and forever. They met in Winnipeg the first time he ever flew on a plane and remained true to each other for 30+years. He brought us so much joy, comfort, support and he made us laugh every single day. There are so many wonderful memories of travelling, from two Disney trips, four European trips, trips across Canada to visit family, or just fun times hanging around watching TV at home or at the cottage- Al made everything fun.
He has left a huge void in all of our lives. Gone way too soon our wonderful Al and Dad. Rest in Peace.
We love you forever.
Alan will be cremated and a celebration of life will be planned for a future date.
Alan was generous in all aspects of his life. Donations in Alan’s name can be made to a food pantry of your choice, or to a cancer charity supporting cancer patients directly.
