Obituary of Pat Frayne
Frayne (nee Waun); Pat (Mary Patricia Ann)
October 30, 1937 – July 16, 2024
Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia at the age of 86.
Beloved wife of Bruce for 68 years and 2 days, having celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on July 14th.
Loving mother of Beth (Kevin) Piatkowski, Ted (Barb) Frayne, Mark Frayne (Carol Anderson) and Sue (Mark) DeMuynck.
Much loved Grandma of Adam (Katelyn) Skutt, Shelby (Kyle) Hampshire, Joey (Chantelle) Frayne, Reg Frayne (Mikayla Hagerty), Ethan Frayne, Connor Frayne, Trish Willemse (Phil James), the late Sean DeMuynck (July 2021; Melissa Richard-Greenblatt), Cassandra (Jesse) Wideman and Carly Jones.
Proud Great grandma of Nixon Skutt; Sawyer, Camryn, and Annie Hampshire; Kennedy and Adelyn Frayne; Hannah Willemse; Maddie, Brody, and Travis James; and Calvin Wideman.
Will be remembered by sisters-in-law Viola Blais, Marilyn Frayne, and Evelyn Waun. She will also be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents, George and Mary Waun, brothers Lyle and Don (Mona) Waun, parents-in-law Reg and Edyth Frayne, brother-in-law Murray and sister-in-law Doris (Allan McChesney).
Pat and Bruce were married on July 14th, 1956, and settled in the town of Forest where they created their home on Union St. and lived for almost 50 years. Everyone was always welcome at Pat and Bruce’s home and the house was always open to the kid’s friends, often lovingly referred to as the strays, always giving them a soft spot to land and a meal to share.
Pat was a proud Grandmother, Grandma and Grammie. Whatever name the little ones called her, she answered to. She never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandkids, whether it be at piano recitals, hockey, baseball, football games, or curling bonspiels. Pat was well known for her specialty desserts, especially her “Grammie Treats”, which were always a favourite and quickly disappeared at family events.
Pat was an avid fan, whatever the sport, especially hockey and baseball. She had a particular love for the Toronto Blue Jays and made sure to share this love with her children and grandchildren. Pat would arrange yearly bus trips to see the Jays play, always bringing along a couple family members.
She was an accomplished piano player, which she displayed at many events, especially during her year as International Musician for the Rebekahs, an organization near and dear to her heart. Pat joined the Rebekahs in 1958 and was a member until her final day. She not only served as the International Musician, but also as the Ontario President for the Rebekahs (1991/1992). She volunteered as chaperone twice for the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Pilgrimage for Youth trip to New York City.
Pat had a competitive streak, regardless of the game, but Euchre was her game of choice. Playing Euchre was not only a game, but a social event that she shared with family, friends, and neighbours. What sounded like large bangs coming from the kitchen was usually knuckles rapping on the table as she earnestly laid her cards out to take all the tricks.
She was a devoted and longtime member of the Forest United Church and a very proud choir member, often participating in the service with a reading.
An Odd Fellow and Rebekah Memorial Service will be held from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday July 26th, followed by a public visitation from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Denning’s of Forest, 9 James Street South.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday July 28th , at Forest United Church, 21 James Street North followed by a reception to celebrate Pat’s life.

A special thank you to everyone who has leant a helping hand and sent their well wishes over these past months.
