Wesley Robert Cunningham – age 79, of Brenton Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on July 12, 2024, in Brenton. Born on October 12, 1944, in Belleville, Yarmouth Co., he was a son to the late Douglas and Olive (Fitzgerald) Cunningham. Wesley loved hunting and was a backyard mechanic who enjoyed working on vehicles. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing darts, pool, cards, going dancing, and a cold bottle of beer. A practical joker, Wesley had a great sense of humour and was easygoing. He had a kind heart and loved his kids, grandkids, and his dog Bella whom he adored.
Wesley is survived by his companion Dorothy Rodgerson; daughter, Kim Cunningham; stepdaughter, Christy (Duane) Thibodeau; brother, Gilbert (Carol); sisters, Hazel Doucette, Marjorie (Gerald) McSwain, Gloria Hurlbert, Nora Brittain (Gordon), and Cheryl Frotten; grandchildren, Jean Marie, Chloe, Parker, Kenzie, Nicholas (Courtney), Natasha (Trevor); great-grandchildren, Karlee, Kolton, Rilah, Lilah, Rowan, and Lainey.
Besides his parents, Wesley was predeceased by his wife, Beverley; son, Mark, special grandchildren, Raeann and Brandon; brothers, Bruce, George, Jackie, and Marvin; sisters, Irvina, Rosie, Anna, and Murtle.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A graveside service will take place Friday, July 19, 2024, at 3 P.M. in Chebogue Cemetery with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Following the service, a Celebration will be held at the Greenville Community Center from 4-7 P.M.
