Keith Bridgeo, age 75, passed away peacefully December 24 with his wife Jan by his side. He was born in Yarmouth on January 6, 1949, the beloved son of the late Robert and Irene Bridgeo. Keith cherished his family and is survived by his wife of 52 years Janice (Wetmore) Bridgeo, sister Audrey Conrad, daughters Natalie (Cory) Barnes, Marcy (Daniel) d’Eon, son Robert (Tanika) Bridgeo and his adored grandchildren Tori, Cameron, Sierra, Cohen, Keyon, Conner and Jovi. Keith loved his family immensely, possibly only slightly more than he loved baseball.
From a young age Keith excelled at sports, but Baseball was life. Keith wanted everyone to love the sport like he did. He spent countless hours playing, coaching, umpiring and organizing. Keith played on many teams, making connections and friendships that have lasted decades. He had so many wonderful friends, each of whom he looked forward to hearing from, whether it was tea at Tim Horton’s, a chat at the ballfield, a Facebook message or a phone call.
Our Mr. Baseball’s career included such highlights as pitching his team to a Maritime Championship with his beloved Hantsport Shamrocks, bringing home a bronze medal at the Junior Canada Games in 1969, playing for 3 consecutive Provincial titles with the Yarmouth Senior Gateways. He loved running ball programs for Clare, Weymouth, Woods Harbour, and sharing his love of ball in many towns throughout the province. More recently Keith conducted ball clinics for his grandsons and their friends; passing on his knowledge, inspiring and impacting a new generation of ball players who learned the fundamentals in his hometown of Yarmouth.
Words cannot express our families appreciation of the VON, Homecare, Dr. Tessa Boudreau, Dr. Cooper, and the 4th floor nursing team at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Sunday December 29,2024 from 6-7 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel.
