Ethel Joanne Macomber age 83 of Yarmouth passed away June 12,2024 at the Meadows Home for Special Care. Born in Yarmouth on April 18,1941 she was a daughter to the late Bernard and Ethel (Hunt) Purdy. “Honey” was the name people knew her by and she was definitely a sweet soul. Family meant everything to her and she loved them wholeheartedly. She left Yarmouth and moved to the United States at the tender age of 18, where she lived until her retirement. At that time, she returned home to reconnect with family. She was a hard worker and one of her favorite jobs was working as the head supervisor for a factory that produced smoke detectors for over 40 years. Honey was a very independent lady and she spoke what was on her mind whether you liked it or not. She was so witty and her sense of humor was like no other. Nothing pleased her more then to tease the employees in each and every store she visited. She was always seen out and about with her two sisters, Vertilee and Gail, and absolutely loved shopping each and every day. Honey loved going to church on Sundays and singing the hymns that meant so much to her. She loved Christmas and all the family – oriented festivities that went along with it. She always made her family feel loved and laughter was a big part of every family gathering. She will be missed dearly. She is survived by her sisters, Gail Doucette, Yarmouth, and Phyllis Single, Ontario; as well as several nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Roy Macomber; brothers, Stanley, Leslie and Mildon; sister, Vertilee Purdy. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, June 20,2024 at 2 p.m. from the Chebogue Cemetery. Rev. Nathan Hill officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Evangel Assembly Church.
