Donna Gail MacPherson
September 24, 1943 – March 16, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Gail MacPherson, age 80 of Yarmouth, N.S. in the early hours of Saturday, March 16, 2024 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. Born September 24, 1943 in Yarmouth, she was the oldest child of the late Donald Laurie Minard and Marion Gladys (Chambers) Smith.
She is survived by her son, Sean MacPherson, Yarmouth; daughter, Katie (Bob) Cudmore, Coldbrook; grandchildren, Nicholas (Amanda) Cudmore, Newport Station; Darcie Cudmore, Coldbrook; siblings, Shirley (Bill) Frittenburg, Lunenburg; Beverly (Emile) LeBlanc, Ste.-Anne-du-Ruisseau; Gary (Barbara) Smith, Norwood; David (Bonnie) Smith, Lake Jesse; as well as 11 nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Donald Smith; sister-in-law, Yvette Smith; nephew, Marc LeBlanc; and former husband and father of her children, Ian MacPherson.
Donna was a dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Daughter who loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren, Nick and Darcie. Donna spent the majority of her professional career working in the Accounting Department at the Bank of Nova Scotia, Yarmouth Branch, where she made many friendships and was loved by her customers. She was an avid gardener and cook, loved to go camping, on shopping trips to the U.S., and swimming, especially at the family camp. The friends of Katie and Sean have very fond memories of Donna’s kindness, generosity and sense of humor. She also loved the beach, but would always say “not the sand”. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Yarmouth Hospital for their compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be performed at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. A. D. “Bill” Newell with light snacks and refreshments to follow. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made in Donna’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
